   jewellery were overlooked in favour of the magnificence and profusion of precious stones.  His revolutionary creations made him the master of

   Art Nouveau jewellery. Drawing his inspiration from nature and influenced by Japanese artists, he created pieces of jewellery, that were in

   themselves miniature sculptures. Audaciously for the period, he used the female form as a means of ornamentation, following the example of

   the Renaissance artists. Very often he depicted woman as an allegory: half woman, half animal, often mysterious and troubled but nonetheless
